The Dragon's Gem - Part 7 - The Resistance
"Help!" The boy shouted as they landed. He unmounted the dragon, still holding Christine's limp body in his hands, barely breathing. Her veins were glowing green and whatever it was was heading for her heart. "Someone get Mariam!"
People approached them and some of them ran in the opposite direction, going to get the woman. Lucas sat on the ground, grooming Christine's hair. "You'll be okay." he whispered.
A woman exited the biggest tent, and Dante suspected it was Mariam. She wore a white cotton dress with a golden belt around her waist and thin sandals. The Healer had long, frizzy dark brown hair and her skin was darker than most. Her face was flawless, decorated with white tattoos on her checks and forehead, and she was beautiful in a terrifying way, as well as ageless. Everyone bowed as she passed, a sign she was respected, but Lucas stood still, looking at her as she came closer.
"Greetings, Dragon." She bowed her head, then redirected her attention to the boy sitting in front of her, holding Christine. "Lucas, put her down." She said, kneeling next to them and waiting for the boy to do what he said. He hesitated for a moment, but then put Chris between him and the lady and walked away.
Mariam put a hand on the other girl's forehead and her eyes turned white, her tattoos starting to glow. The green in Christine's veins began to fade and her body temperature came back to normal.
The Healer got up and turned to Lucas, who was watching them closely. "She's okay." she said and walked over to the boy, saying something Dante couldn't quite make out.
Dante looked at his master, who slowly began waking up and made a sound to get Luke's attention. The boy turned to them and ran over to Christine, helping her sit up. "Chris!" he smiled.
"Where- where are we?" She asked, putting a hand in her forehead and shaking her head slowly.
"Welcome, my friend." he laughed. "To the Resistance. "
